For the 4th and final instalment (for the moment) in our virtual US sporting cities guide, we take a look at Louisiana, to see what their attractions have to offer in the virtual world…

Is staying home, distancing and isolating starting to get to you? Feeling the wanderlust that only a cracking holiday can cure and looking to plan your next travel adventure for when this is all behind us? Fear not! We’re working from home too and, while we can’t wait to get fans booked to experience their perfect sports holiday, we thought it’d be a great idea to offer some virtual tours of some top US destinations. Known not only for their sports teams, these cities and states also offer a lot more and we hope our guides inspire you, ready for sunnier days ahead.

New Orleans
While many of New Orleans’ favourite attractions, museums and galleries have temporarily closed their doors for in-person visits, much of the same history, art, culture and information can be accessed virtually and they have a dedicated page for virtual tours and this can be found here. A couple of attractions to see in this classic, flamboyant Louisiana city include the National World War Two Museum which is New Orleans Number 1 attraction – they are offering live webinars aimed at students and adults which will be posted Thursdays and Fridays plus much more including short films and podcasts. Or, If you want to find out more about New Orleans and the Gulf South then head over to The Historic New Orleans Collection where they have a great feature called voices of progress and this features twenty women who changed New Orleans.

Everyone knows that music is the heart and soul of the Crescent City. Even when clubs are closed and socialising is done from a distance, the show MUST go on in New Orleans. In an effort to continue to support the city’s musicians and bring smiles to your self-quarantine, there are a number of local venues and musicians who will be hosting live-streamed concerts and performances. Here’s a link to the ever-changing web page on what’s on offer.

Maybe you just want to visit the sights of New Orleans to get a vibe for the city before a future trip. If that’s the case then discover New Orleans with one of the most comprehensive virtual experiences in the world. Ride in a streetcar down the picturesque St. Charles Avenue. Visit Cafe du Monde and Commander’s Palace, and then treat yourself to a plantation or swamp tour. In the virtual world, this really is a MUST visit.

Lake Charles
Lake Charles in the south-west corner of the state is nicknamed Louisiana’s playground and is showered with gifts from natural beauty to nature’s bounty. They have a number of videos on their website which use 360-degree film, and this allows you to turn the camera to get difference angles during the video. A really cool feature and the virtual tours offer an opportunity to appreciate the incredible beauty and diversity of the state. A link to their site can be found here.

Whatever your interests, attractions are working hard to provide you with some great virtual content and this allows you to get ahead on planning a future holiday! If you’re looking for a Louisiana sports trip, then get in touch now and complete our MVP Travel request form and we will be in touch.
