Nestled in the Pacific Northwest, Seattle – also known as the Emerald City due to its abundance of surrounding natural greenery – is both naturally and culturally iconic. Birthplace of grunge music and Starbucks, it also possesses both a natural beauty and gritty edge that make it a wonderful place to visit. As a sporting city, Seattle is one of the best and what they may lack in terms of NBA or NHL franchises (right now anyway), the fans really make up for in passion and volume.

The Seattle Seahawks (NFL) play their home games at Century Link Field which is often regarded as one of the loudest stadiums in football and with the team making the playoffs 8 out of the last 10 years they have grown quite an army of overseas fans. Pioneer Square and the areas surrounding the stadium are rocking on game day and for this reason, Seattle offers a great pre-game experience for fans.

Outside of the NFL, you have the Seattle Mariners in the MLB and although they may not have been the most successful team in the past, they have a beautiful ballpark which is a great place to catch a game. Although these may be the only two major league sports teams in the city right now, there is a confirmed NHL franchise coming in the 2021/22 and if soccer is your passion, then Seattle provides you with one of the best teams/ stadiums in the MLS in the Seattle Sounders. The brand new XFL franchise (Seattle Dragons) even adds a nice football option to spring sports trips.

As always, we recommend adding a college fixture to see the future stars of the NFL before they turn pro and the University of Washington is a great option for this with their campus just a few miles from downtown hotels, while the team’s Husky Stadium is one of the best in college sports – seating over 70,000 fans and offering spectacular views of Lake Washington.

There is much more to do in Seattle outside of the game days though, with the Seattle CityPASS a great way to see the sights for one set price, including the iconic Space Needle and Seattle Aquarium. At night Pioneer Square is a great option for dining and nightlife and there are an array of options, some recommendations include the Historic Triangle Pub for that classic dive bar feel, McCoys Firehouse Bar & Grill for some great BBQ or Cowgirls Inc, a country rock bar in a similar style to a coyote ugly bar.
